Making Tax Work for Women

Advocacy

Active Advocacy
A two-year partnership between WLSA, the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) and Christian Aid Zimbabwe (CAZ), working at the intersection of tax justice, gender equality and the care economy. Building on the Fostering Gender Just Economic Recoveries programme, Phase 2 centres on policy influencing — backed by convening and continuous learning — to push for equitable, gender- and care-responsive tax reforms and to build a strong community of feminist macroeconomic advocates.

Objectives

Influence policymakers to shape fiscal reforms that reduce gender inequalities and recognise unpaid care and domestic work as decent work (advancing the Unpaid Care and Domestic Work Bill 2024).
Strengthen parliamentary oversight of public debt by pushing for amendment of the Public Debt Management Act (led by ZIMCODD).
Build a regional community of practice on feminist economic justice, supported by media campaigns, multi-stakeholder engagement and coordinated partner advocacy (coordinated by CAZ).
