GBV
WLSA is promoting gender equality and strengthening GBV management and response mechanisms in Mutasa, Chipinge and Mutare districts of Manicaland Province. The project addresses gender inequality and GBV at three levels — policy, law and practice — by empowering communities to claim their rights and hold duty bearers accountable, while engaging traditional and religious leaders to shift the deep-rooted patriarchal attitudes that drive violence. It builds on lessons from earlier phases, deepening community dialogues, court monitoring, paralegal support and male engagement
Objectives
Rights holders — communities (women, girls and young women) take action to address GBV and gender inequalities by holding duty bearers, policy holders and decision-makers to account.
Power holders — duty bearers, decision-makers and power holders respond to citizens' GBV and gender-inequality needs at micro, meso and macro levels.
Institutional development — WLSA strengthens its own agency and capacity to defend citizens' rights, fight injustice and hold government to account.
