Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe COVID-19 Situational Reports (January–February 2021): Data Analysis Report

This report analyses the Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe's COVID-19 Situation Reports collected during January and February 2021. It examines how the pandemic and lockdown measures affected women and girls, focusing on health, service delivery, social protection, humanitarian crises, access to justice, and gender-based violence. The report also evaluates government responses and provides evidence-based recommendations to strengthen gender-responsive COVID-19 recovery efforts.

• Women and girls were disproportionately affected by COVID-19 due to existing social and economic inequalities, with increased poverty, unpaid care work, and gender-based violence.
• The most significant issues identified were health services, service delivery, social protection, access to justice, and violence against women and girls.
• Challenges included inadequate healthcare resources, limited access to essential services, weak social protection measures, and barriers to justice during the lockdown. 

• Strengthen healthcare facilities, improve working conditions for health workers, and ensure adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Expand social protection programmes and improve access to essential services for vulnerable women and households.
• Improve access to justice, adopt gender-responsive approaches in COVID-19 response, and strengthen coordination between government and civil society organizations.
