Isheanesu Chirisa
Isheanesu Chirisa is the National Director for Women and Law in Southern Africa, an organisation that advances women and girls’ rights protection and promotion through the law. Isheanesu is a registered lawyer and Gender Specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in the NGO, private and public sectors. She is experienced in multi-sectoral approach in leading and implementing projects in many technical areas, including sexual reproduction health rights, women empowerment , feminism economics , democracy/ governance, economic justice, access to justice, human rights education, rule of law, gender, social inclusion, community engagement and capacity building. Isheanesu is also an experienced litigation lawyer focused on strategic impact litigation, public interest litigation, and non-judicial interventions.
In her current role as the National Director at WLSA, Isheanesu provides strategic direction and leadership on Women’s Empowerment and Rights programmes in Zimbabwe. Isheanesu has extensive knowledge on managing programming related to a combination of women’s rights, civil society capacity building, women’s empowerment, civil society coalition building, women rights advocacy and civil society strengthening. Isheanesu is also experienced in feminist movement building.
