Bianca Mahere
With nine (9) years of comprehensive legal experience, Bianca Mahere has established herself as a dedicated advocate for women and girls’ rights, particularly sexual and reproductive health rights, prevention of gender-based violence and women’s land rights. She currently works as the Senior Projects Lawyer at Women and Law in Southern Africa- Zimbabwe, where she plays a pivotal role in championing the rights of women and girls. Her work involves providing critical legal advice to marginalized women and challenging the status quo through high-impact strategic litigation cases. Bianca actively engages with decision-makers, advocating for initiatives, laws, and policies that promote women's rights. She is registered in the High Court of Zimbabwe as a legal practitioner, conveyancer, and notary public. Her journey in law began with her service as a Magistrate, followed by a profound career in private practice, and later joined the NGO sector where she honed her skills in advocating for justice, equity, and representing victims of organised violence and torture in Zimbabwean’s courts.
An adept researcher, Bianca has contributed significantly to the discourse on human rights, authoring several articles that highlight pressing issues in the field. Her work has been featured in respected publications, including the University of Cape Town : Journal on Democracy, Governance, and Human Rights in Zimbabwe.
Bianca Mahere is a holder of an LLB degree from the University of Zimbabwe (2017) and is currently pursuing an LLM Constitutional and Human Rights Law with the Midlands State University.
